Community Involvement

At the Aveda Institute New Mexico, we ingrain key values and encourage effective behaviors in our students to ensure they are successful once they graduate.

One value, that we feel truly prepares them as the newest generation of beauty professionals is having them learn and understand the value of community. As a community, we are able to encourage each others growth, inspire and collaborate to truly make a difference in one another. Therefore, giving back to our community is an essential element for our continued growth and success.

In order to be successful, we teach our students, that they must know what’s happening in their community. If their community is in need, then one of their guests, a family member or a fellow stylists could also be in need. In a field where we have the honor of making others feel better simply by providing a service it’s imperative we have a positive impact on those around us.

Therefore we encourage our students to participate in community events throughout our city. These events range from holding “H2O Fashion Shows” to raise money and awareness for water. To us attending and manning a booth to provide Aveda Cool Oil towels and hair braiding for participants in the Susan G. Komen Run for the Cure. By having our students and staff participate in these events, we are encouraging them to think past nominal donations as a way to make a difference. Being at these events, students and staff have learned that sometimes its a simple hug or encouraging word that can make someone’s day.
