What to Have Ready When You Apply to Beauty School

Enrollment for our September starts closes this week. If you have decided you want to go and you are not sure what applying actually involves, this is the short version. Most of it takes an afternoon, and the pieces that take longer are worth starting today.

• Applying comes down to a conversation, a few documents, and the FAFSA if you want to be considered for aid
• The FAFSA is the piece with the longest lead time, so file it first and let everything else follow
• Our admissions team does most of the work with you, so you do not have to figure the sequence out alone

Start With a Conversation

Almost nobody applies cold, and we would rather you did not.

A tour and a conversation with admissions come first. You will see the salon floor, meet the people who would be teaching you, and get straight answers about hours, schedule and cost before you commit to anything. That visit takes about thirty minutes and it settles most of the questions people spend months circling.

The Documents

You will need proof that you are eligible to enroll and a way for us to verify your identity.

In practice that means a government issued photo ID and proof of high school completion, which can be a diploma, a transcript, or a GED or HiSET credential. If you cannot lay hands on your transcript, tell admissions early. Requesting one from a school district can take a week or two, and that is the most common reason an application slows down.

File the FAFSA First

If you want to be considered for federal financial aid, the FAFSA is the starting point, and it is the piece with the longest lead time.

Our school code is 041745. File it as soon as you decide you are serious, even before your other paperwork is together, because the results take time to come back and you cannot plan around numbers you do not have yet.

Financial aid may be available to those who qualify. Aid is often a combination of grants and loans, and loans are repaid, so the useful goal is not a single number but a clear picture of what you would owe and when. Our admissions team will go through your actual results with you rather than a general estimate.

Know Your Dates

For our September starts, the calendar is firm.

Esthiology closes September 2 for a September 16 start. Cosmetology closes September 7 for the Thursday through Saturday start on September 24, and because September 7 is Labor Day, Friday September 4 is the practical last business day. Orientation for all September cohorts is September 9.

Those deadlines exist so that orientation, kit day and your first day land where they should. They are not soft.

What Happens After You Apply

You are not left waiting in silence.

Admissions will confirm what they have and what is still outstanding, walk you through your aid results when they arrive, and get you a date for orientation. Between now and your first day the main thing asked of you is showing up to orientation and kit day.
