Your First 300 Hours: The Halfway Mark in Esthiology

Six hundred hours can sound like an abstraction when you are deciding whether to enroll. It becomes much more concrete at the halfway point. Our next esthiology class starts November 12, so here is what the first 300 hours actually build.

• It is also the point where most students stop feeling like beginners and start feeling like practitioners

What the Milestone Is

At 300 hours your progress is formally checked against the 600 you need for New Mexico licensure.

It is a real marker, recorded and tracked, not a ceremony. For a student starting November 12, that checkmark lands early in the new year. Knowing it is coming gives the first half of the program a shape, and students tell us the halfway point is when the finish line stops feeling theoretical.

What You Can Do By Then

The fundamentals have stopped being new.

A basic facial, once a sequence you had to consciously remember, has become something your hands know while your attention goes to the guest and their skin. Skin analysis has gotten faster and more accurate. Waxing has gotten cleaner. You have performed enough services on enough different people that the variation between faces has started to teach you things a textbook could not.

What Changes in How You Think

Instead of asking which treatment is next on the list, you start asking what this particular person’s skin needs and in what order. That shift is the whole profession in miniature, and it is the point at which guests start requesting you by name.

What Is Still Ahead

The second half is where speed, confidence and specialization come in.

You refine technique, get faster without getting rushed, deepen your product knowledge, and start thinking seriously about where you want to work and what you want to be known for. Board preparation sits in this stretch as well. The first 300 hours make you competent. The second 300 make you ready.

Your November Dates

Applications open October 1 for our November 12 esthiology class. The enrollment deadline is Wednesday, October 28, and orientation is November 4.
