What a Week in Esthiology School Looks Like, Wednesday Through Friday
Esthiology on our Wednesday through Friday schedule means three full days on campus every week, moving from the classroom to hands-on practice to guests in our salon as the program goes on. Our next Wednesday through Friday class starts November 12, applications are open, and the enrollment deadline is October 28. Here is what those weeks hold.
- The program is 600 clock hours, three days a week, in three phases
- Theory, hands-on practice and salon experience build on each other week by week
- The next class starts Thursday, November 12; enroll by Wednesday, October 28
The Shape of the Week
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are full days on campus, with a lunch break each day. Esthiology is a clock hour program, so you clock in and out each day and every hour you attend counts toward your 600. Admissions will confirm the daily hours for your class and walk you through a projected timeline based on your schedule.
The First Phase: Foundations
The opening weeks are about knowing skin before you touch it. You study skin analysis, the anatomy and histology that explain how skin is built, and the sanitation and safety standards the State requires. You learn facial manipulation and the equipment you will use, along with makeup and plant aromaology, and you practice hands-on alongside the theory so the two stay connected from day one.
The Second Phase: In the Salon
In the second phase you begin taking guests in the salon under the guidance of licensed educators, while your classroom learning continues. This is where facials, waxing and sugaring, and makeup application become real services for real people. It is also where the consultation starts to matter: listening to what a guest asks for and building a plan they trust. You will work with Aveda’s plant-based skin care line throughout.
The Third Phase: Getting Ready for Licensure
The final phase fine tunes accuracy, concentration and speed, and prepares you for the written and practical exams required for New Mexico licensure. You also work on the business side of the profession, including strategies for landing your first position.
What Stays the Same Every Week
Theory classes stay on your schedule from the first week to the last, and they are protected time. Student artists are never pulled out of a scheduled theory class to take a guest in the salon. The rhythm of reading, practicing and then performing is what makes the next week possible. Each Friday closes a week you can measure in hours, and each Wednesday opens the next one with something new.
